Thankfully it's dropping under $40 in some locations, because I have a difficult time convincing myself to buy a blend that costs more than a similarly aged single malt. But the sherry and Talisker combo does sound very nice...Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-49401860342240207432014-12-03T19:37:22.599-05:002014-12-03T19:37:22.599-05:00Woah, I can't believe it's almost two year...Woah, I can't believe it's almost two years since this was posted. I finally got my hands on Isle of Skye 12 and I am finding more similarities to Black Label. The sherry aspect is nearly the same and the Talisker notes are nearly identical. This might be due to both blends containing Talisker of the same age.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13215982348779717643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-25638650284314338962012-12-16T00:21:28.681-05:002012-12-16T00:21:28.681-05:00Black Bush is considerably better than the white l...Black Bush is considerably better than the white label Bush. Haven't had it in a long time though. I'm making a list of all these potential Taste Offs...

The sherry seemed to sneak out of (or into?) this JWBL bottle the longer it was open. As you do, I tend to like less sherry in my peated whisky most of the time. I prefer JWBL with less of the sherry element too.Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-5418427772506374442012-12-16T00:12:52.613-05:002012-12-16T00:12:52.613-05:00I've been loving the Compass Box whiskys. I might get a Black Bottle once the IoS runs out.Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-71135007631619145252012-12-15T03:53:54.220-05:002012-12-15T03:53:54.220-05:00Funny you noticed the sherry in JWB12. To me, JWB12 is like a Bowmore 12 or Lagavulin 16 dialed down to a 7 or 6, due to the grain whisky content. Peat + sherry is not my favorite combination, but I recognize it's a well made blend, very well balanced and likable.

I was thinking the other day that I prefer Black Bush to JWB12 (although I haven't had it in a while). Easy drinking, nice complexity, but less smokiness. Any thoughts on that?Florinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14445344658258056628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-65191557283332735902012-12-15T02:03:22.260-05:002012-12-15T02:03:22.260-05:00I must get a bottle of Isle of Skye 12. However I wonder if Black Bottle or Compass Box Peat Monster can take on the likes of Black Label?Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13215982348779717643noreply@blogger.com
