And Edradour looks gorgeous from the pictures I've found online so it's definitely eye-catching for the tourists.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13215982348779717643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-51697420069875281432016-10-24T12:20:38.711-04:002016-10-24T12:20:38.711-04:00I really appreciate the feedback. I know - two very dissimilar malts, both in price and profile. We shall see if I take a flyer on what sounds like a intriguing Ben Nevis, that is cheaper yet I haven't had the chance to try myself or get spendy and buy the Caol Ila which I've tried and loved.

I'll look forward to seeing your review of this at some point in the future, and perhaps I'll have opted to show some restraint and buy the Ben Nevis.

Thanks again,

ChrisAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-76587756023852351282016-10-23T15:19:43.451-04:002016-10-23T15:19:43.451-04:00Hi Anon,

At the moment I have a pile of partially finished bottles that I need to completely finish before I open anything new. I will review this Ben Nevis but it may not be for some time. You're right I didn't write much in the way of notes on this one. Because it was really darn good I took my eye off the whole taking notes thing. It's not a subtle whisky, the sherry cask is rich but it doesn't overwhelm the big crazy Ben Nevis malt.

Signatory's early '90s Ben Nevis sherry casks are adored within the industry. I have a friend who works for multiple independent bottlers (who are Signatory's competitors) and he thinks they are amongst the best sherry cask single malts on the market right now.

I've been looking for other reviews of cask 2382 online and am not seeing much. The whiskybase community has rated it the 2nd best of Sig's '91 Ben Nevises (Nevii) - https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/59202/ben-nevis-1991-sv.

Sorry I can't be of more help at the moment, but I will link to my review of this whisky to this comment chain when it's posted. Thanks!Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-59312226204782693282016-10-18T15:43:13.718-04:002016-10-18T15:43:13.718-04:00Good day sir,

I'm sure that their proximity to both Glasgow & Edinburgh plays a big role in their popularity. But I don't know how their numbers compare to, say, Auchentoshan, Glenkinchie, Blair Athol, Glengoyne, or Glenturret. It can't be just them being on the N-S connector, since so is, say, Dalwhinnie, and nobody goes there, I don't think.Florinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14445344658258056628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-30168151787164055972016-08-10T13:32:00.198-04:002016-08-10T13:32:00.198-04:00Thank you, kindly. I'm curious as to why so many folks visit that distillery in particular.

I might pick up one of those Ben Nevis UCFs since the cask strength versions are now going for $140+. Edradour was the first distillery I ever visited, in 2002, when I knew precious little about whisky and couldn't tell cask strength from a washback.

You made me look at the one bottle I just brought from Europe: it's a Signatory Ben Nevis 1991 Sherry Butt #2913, 46%, d.16.08.1991, b.09.12.2014. Now I'm looking forward to opening it even more!Florinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14445344658258056628noreply@blogger.com
