My posted info comes from Driscoll's post here and then K&L's the product page. West Cork itself provides almost no information of any kind on their site.

The Irish Whiskey Association was only formed in 2014. Currently, the Irish Whiskey Act of 1980 (http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/1980/act/33/section/1/enacted/en/html#sec1) governs their whiskey. And it doesn't specify anything about single malts. It does say, in section 1.2, that a whiskey can't be labelled "blended" unless "the spirits comprise a blend of two or more distillates". But it does NOT say that if "the spirits comprise a blend of two or more distillates" that it must be called "blended". If you get my drift. They may want to update their regulations since their distillery count is going to double or triple during this decade.Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-30239100729545193002016-03-21T22:04:51.211-04:002016-03-21T22:04:51.211-04:00"Single malt" in Ireland doesn't nee..."Single malt" in Ireland doesn't need to come from a single distillery? Wha-wha-whaaat?

I never heard this before. Can you (or anyone) provide a link to either the info on the regulation or confirmed details of this "single" malt's two-distillery origin? Thanks mucho.

-Ol' JasAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
