And, yeah, I've been noticing Rittenhouse being much better stocked everywhere around here now, so they must be dumping barrels the moment they hit four years.Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-78311080732909798892015-12-06T18:44:04.802-05:002015-12-06T18:44:04.802-05:00The handful of years when Rittenhouse was only spo...The handful of years when Rittenhouse was only sporadically available mean that I'm not surprised the contents have become younger. They've been running just to stay in place. Additionally, most of their customers are now cocktail bars, where recipes can be tweaked to accommodate a less refined spirit.Jordanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06448702693643593156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-33487551760087589082015-12-05T13:39:43.434-05:002015-12-05T13:39:43.434-05:00Yeah, though I really like Heaven Hill's produ...Yeah, though I really like Heaven Hill's products they have been quietly removing age statements (see Evan Williams) for the past couple of years. They're going to lose some fans when EC loses its age statement but keeps its price.Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-47885636231955575722015-12-05T13:37:12.305-05:002015-12-05T13:37:12.305-05:00Yep. It has a much deeper complexity and a richer flavor, at a lower ABV.Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-82785308160712902142015-12-04T16:53:08.270-05:002015-12-04T16:53:08.270-05:00A Haven Hill rep told me that this Pikesville Rye ...A Haven Hill rep told me that this Pikesville Rye is Rittenhouse aged for 6 years instead of 4. You may be onto something with the declining quality of Rittenhouse. Step 1: Degrade quality of Rittenhouse by reducing age from 6 years to 4 years. Step 2: Introduce Pikesville at higher price point. You have now changed the price on the same rye from $29 to $59 dollars. Step 3: Pat self on the back. This is smart because instead of everyone angry that they raised the price, everyone is excited for a new and tasty rye. Which it actually is. Though, one thing to note is Pikesvilles higher proof. Which helps mask the similarities and is not that much higher than the former's 50%. Profits Profits Profits. Can't wait to see what they have in store for Eljah Craig 12 , Oh I mean Eljah Craig Small Batch.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3101162324715983722.post-48368717213775824982015-12-04T14:23:23.918-05:002015-12-04T14:23:23.918-05:00Wow, Sku really has a way with his labels! I take it that you're enjoying the Smooth Ambler 7yo rye better than the Pikesville, right?Florinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14445344658258056628noreply@blogger.com
